Karen Kalamaras is fronting up for a second head shave.
Ten years ago Karen sacrificed her locks in the name of charity and she reckons it’s now grown back enough so she can do it again.
Karen and Lee Fisher are both taking part in Shave for a Cure at Kalano in Katherine.
The Kalano Community Development Program team are taking part in this year’s Greatest Shave with the help of Catholic Care NT on Friday, March 16 between 9am-1pm.
The team and their supporters will be having a mini fun day in the gardens of Catholic Care on First Street in Katherine.
Karen, who manages the Community Development Program at Kalano, agreed to have her head shaved for Relay for Life 10 years ago.
“There are not many people who have not been touched by cancer in some way,” she said.
Karen said she was also humbled by the support from Kalano members who have been fixing lawnmowers, building a bar, fixing vehicles and running an opportunity shop at the community to raise money.
“Personally I am hoping to raise $1000 to lose my hair again, and it is really great to see how people have come on board to raise money for such a good cause.”
