Preparing to open our workshop to the publicUntil recently, Kalano’s Mechanics Workshop has served its communities and offered skills development training for CDP clients. Now, it’s preparing to open to the public and will be offering a 10% discount to standard industry rates for their services and dry hire.
Steve Fletcher, the shop supervisor, will be managing the mechanic services. Steve has extensive professional experience as a mechanic and manager. He has worked for various Aboriginal organisations such as the Vic Daly Shire Council/West Daly Regional Council, the Roper Gulf Shire Council, Manyallaluk Aboriginal Corporation, and the Barunga Community Government Council. He received his formal training at Coffs Harbour Toyota and Mercedes Dealership and has owned his own business. Among many other qualifications, Steve is an Authorised Vehicle Inspector for the Northern Territory.

Kalano’s Deputy CEO and former mechanic shop manager, Alan Mole, is working with Steve on developing a business plan to open the workshop from Monday to Friday, noon – 4:00 pm. Mornings will be reserved for ongoing CDP training and skills development.
Services will include oil and tyre change, engine servicing, mechanical failures and repairs, roadworthy inspections, wheel balancing, fault finding, warranty work and vehicle safety check.
